“Trevor became a leader at Rogers within 10 days of being employed as a Technical Support Consultant. In May 1999, Rogers Communications was hiring rapidly. As a new hire trainer, I was training "back to back". I booked a vacation for the third week in May only to find that another Internet new hire class was going to be squeezed in at the last minute. Trevor was in this class. The first 5 days went as usual but, from days 6 to 10, sales trainers volunteered to help out so I could go on vacation. The issue was that this was a technical support class which made it a challenge for the sales trainers. Trevor, along with two other participants, had grasped enough of the material in the first 5 days to support the sales trainers. When I returned on the 11th day, the class was in terrific shape and I even had to rewrite the assessment tests because Trevor kept scoring 100%. This wasn't about being a boss or a leader – it was about helping others in a difficult situation. To no surprise, Trevor quickly moved into management. True to form, he was one of the first to manage technical support agents who worked from home. Trevor's willingness to help others and his ability to adapt to new technologies are the two qualities that I remember most fondly when I think of our years at Rogers.”
